15 Bean Soup

This is a delicious soup for the cold winter months.

Prep Time: 10 minutes (soak beans overnight)

Cook Time: 2 hours

Ingredients
  • 1 bag of 15 bean soup
  • Ham bone, saved from ham
  • 4 cloves of fresh garlic, chopped or minced
  • 2 cans (15 ounces) of tomatoes
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
Directions:
  1. Soak beans in water overnight.
  2. Place ham bone in pot. Add beans and cover with water. Discard the ham seasoning packet.
  3. Add salt and pepper.
  4. Bring to boil and then reduce heat to medium.
  5. Add tomatoes, garlic, onion, lemon juice, and remaining spices.
  6. Simmer for two hours and serve.
